2013 QLD SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIPS – 9th and 10th February – Coomera Lakes
The Sprint Championships were originally scheduled for the 27th and 28th January at Lake Kawana on the Sunshine Coast. Unfortunately for everyone Cyclone Oswald had other ideas. The QLD Sprint Championships had to be postponed and another venue had to be found due to the unavailability of Lake Kawana. Coomera Lakes was the chosen new venue and Currumbin Creek Paddlers Club took over the reins from the Sunshine Coast Clubs providing volunteers and officials.
"Special thanks to all Volunteers over the weekend at the State Sprints. A fabulous effort from Currumbin members both on and off the water with some outstanding results that would not have been possible without the assistance we provided to ‘run’ the event. Jerry Dunn (QC) asked me to pass on his sincere thanks for the wonderful way in which Currumbin Creek Paddlers supported the weekend from the rescue boat (including Darryl Stenlake’s interpretation of a traditional ICF Norwegian starter and Grant and Bryson’s driving skills) to the judges tent (Di and Dave) and on to the BBQ with the unstoppable Collette and Karen leading the way. Amazing people all …." Mark Rickard – President of CCPC.
"A bigger than BIG THANK YOU!! to each and everyone who volunteered to make the 2013 Queensland Canoe Sprint Championships a huuuugggeeeee success. Each of you deserve a medal from the Chief Official". Jeremy Dunn – Chief Official.
