Local Currumbin paddler Ken wallace wins gold in the K1 500m final ahead of Adam van Koeverden and Tim Brabants at the Beijing Olympics.
A day earlier Ken storms from behind to win bronze in the K1 1000m. Chasing from behind Ken reeled in five rivals, including joint race favourite Adam van Koeverden to take the bronze. British world champion Tim Brabants took gold in three minutes 26.323 with defending Olympic champion Eirik Veraas Larsen claiming silver in a near photo-finish, 0.143 seconds ahead of Wallace.
